Performance Specs

Powered by a 3.6 liter V6 24- Valve VVT Engine, the super-drive is built to weather all types of road condition.  Its manual transmission is a standard six-speeder while its automatic is a standard 5- wheeler with a Command- trac system that enables the driver to alternate from the sleek 2-wheel drive to the super 4- wheel drive.

Safety Specs

To ensure safety in any terrain, there are built in safety mechanisms.  Some of them are:

• Advanced front airbags
• Electronic stability control
• Chip- resistant head lamps that offer a wide beam of light
• Sport bar cushioned to protect occupants when off the road

The Competition

There are few competitors for the wrangler.  The Toyota 4 Runner is larger, offers off road capabilities too and performs the same as the wrangler on difficult roads.  The Land Rover, Lexus and Mercedes Benz have SUVs for rough terrain but their high prices is no competition with the Wrangler.  Another competitor is the Subaru Forester, though compact with 4 wheel drive, it is not really built for off road travel.  This is the same for the Mazda CR-V, CX -5, the ford-escape, the kia Sportage and the GMC Terrain.

Fuel Consumption

The Wrangler is armed with a 6- speed transmission that provides around 17 mpg in the city and 21 mpg on the highway, which is lower than the mileage of many compact SUV’S on the market.  It still stands on par with the larger Toyota 4Runner.

Advantages And Disadvantages

The wrangler is a great SUV for rough terrain driving.  It also stands out among the competition because of its excellent price point.  However, the caveat though is that it tends to be noisy or less comfy than its rivals.  There has been complaints from drivers of the inside feeling constricted and its dependability may not be the best.
