Assisted Living Apartment:

For example they may need help with taking a shower, grocery shopping or getting dressed. Assisted living apartments usually include housekeeping, laundry services and meals.
Independent Living Apartment:
An independent living apartment is the right choice for you, If you are able to do your day to day tasks by yourself. This is ideal for independent seniors who want a sense of community. Within these communities you will find a lot of recreational activities so that seniors can socialize.
Independent living communities offer many services. Some of these services include: laundry facilities, transportation, cafeteria, on-site pharmacies, and nursing care. However, medical services are not available in independent living facilities.
Age
There are age restrictions that are associated with senior apartments. The two types of age restrictions you will find are:
- 55 years old and up – Once occupant must be at least 55 years old. All the other occupants in the apartment can be younger than 55.
- 62 years old and up – All the occupants must be at least 62 years old. This is a stricter age rule and does not have any flexibility.
Cost
Living in a senior living facility can be expensive. The first step you should take is determining your budget for living in a senior apartment. If the housing options are too expensive, you can look into government assistance. You can look into section 8 housing, section 202 for elderly with low incomes, and section 811 housing for people with disabilities. These programs can help pay rent.
