Private Jet Charter Vs. First Class: What’s Best?

Some people may give you a hard time for asking the question, but if you have disposable income to spend on aviation, it’s well worth considering.  Whats best? Private Jet Charter or First Class?

Whether it is a business trip or a vacation, a chartered jet allows you to optimize your time and decrease the amount of hours that you spend traveling.  On the other hand, first class is a luxurious way to travel, even though it means you have to put up with crowds and other discomforts of commercial flights.  So, which factors determine whether it is better to fly first class or charter a private jet?

Cost

There is no reason to look at both options if you can only afford one, so let us get the fiscal elephant in the room out of the way.  A private jet is more costly than a first-class seat.  The same trip on private jet, is contingent on the airplane size.  Light Jets start at $2,800 per hour.  However, there is more to the pricing narrative.  On a commercial aircraft, you lease a seat.  If you wish to bring someone with you, you lease two seats and pay double the price tag.  If you wish to bring seven other people on your trip to Vegas from California, which takes about one hour, you pay around $8,000 to fly first class on a commercial jet.  When you have one person or eight, the price remains the same per hour on a private jet.  To get a group of eight from L.A.-Los Vegas, the cost is suddenly in the favor of smaller private jets.

There is one situation when it is almost always cheaper to select first class: flying abroad.  Long trips call for a bigger, more expensive plane with a larger range.  This could make a commercial flight substantially cheaper unless you took a huge group and bought everyone first-class seats.

Amenities

First class offers a lot of luxurious comforts, but not at the same level of a private jet.  On a private jet your wish is their command.  Whatever amenity you request will be available during your trip.  This wishes can even be a birthday cake, a certain champagne, herbal teas, or only pink starbursts.  Just name the amenity you want and it is yours.

Privacy

There are plenty of airlines that have converted their first class seats to be mini-suites.  This provides a lot of privacy to the passengers.  However, some people need absolute privacy. Many times, meetings are conducted during flights.  These meetings have a lot of confidential information being discussed.

Convenience

If you are running late, your first class ticket on an airline will not wait for you.  They will take off as scheduled. However, a private airplane will wait for you.  They will change plans according to your needs.

Flexibility

Of course private jets are more flexible.  As mentioned above, commercial airplanes have to stay with their fixed schedule. A private jet can be flexible.  The clients set the flight schedule. You can set the time you want to take off and you can also specify which airport to take off from and which airport to land in.

Additional Perks Of Private Jets

Here are some additional perks you should consider:

  • Commercial flights only have access to large airports while private jets can fly into smaller ones.
  • Private jets passengers do not have to wait in long security lines
  • Your luggage will not get lost when flying private
  • Private jet flights don’t get canceled
  • Private jets allow pets
  • Private jets can accommodate round trips in one day

The answer to if you should: Fly first class or rent a private airplane charter?  Is fairly simple to answer.  After reading above all fingers point towards private jets being better than first class.  So you might think you should always fly private; however, the first point is cost.  The major factor to consider first is cost. If you find that a private jet makes sense with its costs then go for it.
