A Closer Look At The 2020 Genesis G80 & G90

Before their discontinuation, the 2019 Hyundai Equus and 2019 Genesis were very notable luxury vehicles on the market; however, people believed that Hyundai cars should be inexpensive.  This reduced the attention given to these luxury options.  The creation of the new Genesis brand will change all that this year.  The 2020 Genesis G80 has replaced the Hyundai Genesis and its current MSRP is $41,400. The bigger Hyundai Equus will be replaced by the 2020 Genesis G90, and it is selling at a MSRP of $68,100.

The Genesis G80 and G90 are striving to gain recognition for their vehicle category by providing a combination of luxury, performance, style, and affordability.  This combination of elements are not offered by their rivals.  The Genesis brand may lack global recognition at the moment but will definitely achieve that recognition and acceptance after the release of the 2020 Genesis G80 and G90.  Below is a breakdown of 2020 Genesis G80 and G90.

Performance Specifications

Both the G80 and G90 have an amazing performance, and their major difference is the G90’s slightly greater strength.  Whichever one you choose to drive will give you optimum satisfaction.

The 2020 Genesis G80 comes with a 3.8-liter V6 engine that yields 311 horsepower and 250 pounds of torque. The 2020 G90 comes with a 3.3-liter V6 engine that yields 365 horsepower and 376 pounds of torque.  Despite the fact that they are luxury sedans, their powerful engines give them the ability to compete with most sports cars currently on the market.

Safety And Entertainment Specifications

Luxury vehicles are always known to offer an extensive list of entertainment and safety features, and that also includes the 2020 Genesis G80 and G90.   There are quite a number of features that come with these vehicles, like a voice-activated navigation, high-definition satellite radio and Bluetooth compatibility.  The LCD touchscreen monitor available in the dashboard gives easy access to these features.

Both luxury sedans come fitted with nine airbags, a blind spot monitoring system, traction control, a low tire-pressure warning light and a lane departure warning system.  These features provide optimum safety when driving on inclement road conditions.  An extra ten performance speakers come standard with the Genesis G90. An extra fee is required to get a speed-adjusted audio and a parking assist camera in the Genesis G80, but it comes standard with the Genesis G90.

How it Stacks Up Against the Competition

The 2020 Genesis G80 is categorized as a luxury midsize sedan, so its main rivals are the Audi A6, Mercedes-Benz E-class, Cadillac CTS and BMW 5-Series.  The G80 ranks higher than its competitors when you look at the interior design, performance and safety scores from World Report and U.S. News.  The G80 is even more astounding considering the fact that it not only beats its well-known rivals but also has a lower manufacturer’s suggested retail price than its four major rivals.

The 2020 Genesis G90 is categorized as a large luxury sedan, so its major rivals will be the Audi A7, BMW 6-Series, Mercedes-Benz CLS and Cadillac CT6.  The Genesis G90 just like the G80, beats all its rivals considering the performance, safety and build quality. U.S. News and World Report ranks the G90 as the second-best luxury sedan currently on the market.  The 2020 Tesla which costs a whopping $140,000 was the only vehicle that ranked higher than the G90. There is no large luxury sedan that can beat the G90 combining both its features and price.

Fuel Efficiency

The fuel efficiency of a car is a very important factor to be considered when buying a new car because gas costs will become your main vehicle expense.  The slightly greater strength of the G90’s engine over that of the G80 comes at the cost of lower fuel efficiency.

The 2020 G80 has a return of up to 18 miles per gallon in the city and 28 miles per gallon on the freeway.  The 2020 G90 has a return of up to 17  miles per gallon in the city and 24 miles per gallon on the freeway.
