Basics And MSRP

The Fiesta is available at a base price of $16,860. Its low price is not an indication of its superb build and classy design.  Other special features include heated leather seats, a high-end Sony audio system and multi-color ambient lights.

There are two main body build options in this Ford model: the 4-door hatch back or the sedan. Both have S, SE and Titanium trims, but only the hatchback has the ST trim.

The leather seats make the sedan very comfortable to use.  It uses key less ignition and a Sync 3 Ford standard infotainment system controlled with a very responsive captive touchscreen.

Some changes can be made to suit additional preferences.  Currently, the manual transmission  and 3- cylinder engine combo with EcoBoostis are the only options for the ST model. However, there are auto transmission options for other engines or trims.

Main Features

There are multiple feature options for various trims on the 2020 Ford Fiesta.

Size And Comfort Specs

Irrespective of the trim, the Ford Fiesta is built to give enough space  for the driver and front passenger seats. The adjustable height seats and the adjustable steering wheel even allow for further space.  For the Recaro package whose bolsters take up more space, they offer impressive support for more speed friendly drivers.  The back seats though, do not have the same amount of leg and head wriggle room.

The cargo capacity is another point of concern. There is only 12.8 cubic feet for the sedan and 14.9 cubic feet for the hatch back.  The maximum space achievable in the hatch back even after folding the back seats is a mere 25.4 cubic feet.  Compared to the 52.7 cubic feet Honda fit has, the Fiesta is losing in the cargo category.

Performance Specs

The Ford Fiesta gets top ranks for performance when ranking similar sized cars.  It can produce up to 120 horsepower and 112 pound-feet of torque from its 1.6L engine.  It comes accompanied with a 5-speed manual transmission set up up-gradable to a 6-speed automatic and a front wheel drive.

Safety Specs

The Ford Fiesta comes with a set of features that help to improve the safety control on the road.  They include:

  • Anti-lock brakes
  • Driver knee airbag
  • Front seat side airbag
  • Side curtain airbags
  • Traction and stability control with the SE trim offering
  • MyKey Parental controls and the
  • Titanium trim offering rear parking sensors and a rear-view camera

For emergency response, the Sync feature gives a 911 quick dial functionality that allows you to call 911 through your synced phone.

The Competition

Even the starting trim of the Fiesta has top notch performance stats.  It’s superb responses makes sure drivers have the optimum satisfaction on the road.  It  doesn’t win in all the battles though, as already mentioned, the Honda Fit beats it in cargo space.  The Chevrolet Sonic also has better road performance.  Even the Kia Rio and the Hyundai Accent provide better fuel efficacy.  Despite losing some battles, the Fiesta is still the better vehicle in its class.

Fuel Efficacy

For standard models, the fuel economy of the Fiesta is at 27 miles per gallon in the city and 36 miles per gallon on express roads.  This equates to above 30 mpg for automatic transmissions and similar numbers for the manual transmission.

Pros and Cons

The benefits that boost the Fiesta as your choice are its easy handling especially on corners and bends, the super improved performance of the SE trim, luxurious interior, advanced tech specs and Better fuel efficiency.

On the flip side, its limited cargo capacity, small wriggle space for the back seats and lack of auto transmission for EcoBoost are slight drawbacks.

Overall, the Ford Fiesta is a great hatchback and sedan option you should consider.  To learn more about the car, visit a Ford dealership and take it for a test drive.
