Engine

The Sorento has a base 185-horsepower four-cylinder engine.  This is paired with a six-speed transmission.  It is highly recommended to upgrade to the 290-horsepower V6 because it is stronger than the base engine.  The V6 comes with a eight-speed automatic transmission.

You can expect great fuel economy with the Sorenta.  The L and LX trims have a 2.4-liter engine, which has a fuel economy of  22 mpg in the city and  29 mpg on the highway.  The 3.3-liter V6 engine has a gas mileage of 19 mpg in the city and 26 mpg on the highway with front wheel drive.
