The New Hyundai Azera

For over 20 years, Hyundai sold the Azera under a different name. It was recently renamed as the Hyundai Azera.  In 2006,  the South Korean automaker made up their mind to make the Azera its leading Hyundai car model. Performance

The new Hyundai Azera is powered by the Lambda II, which is a 3.3-liter 24-valve V6 engine with an output of 255 lb-ft of torque and 293 horsepower.  The Lambda II is coupled to a 6-speed automatic transmission, which is complemented by an SHIFTRONIC® gear for letting you downshift or upshift while driving manually.  Included is an Active ECO System, which is incorporated with the V6 engine to increase fuel efficiency and consequently preserve energy.  With the use of a front-engine front-wheel-drive layout, the Azera provides 29 miles per gallon on the highway and 20 miles per gallon in the city.

Space And Seating

The new Hyundai Azera is furnished with a passenger capacity of 107 cubic feet, which is sufficient enough to accommodate up to 5 adult passengers.  Additionally, the Azera has a trunk space of 16.3 cubic feet, and it can be further expanded thanks to the folding  back seats. For ultimate comfort, all seats have leather surfaces and heating capability, with cooling capability included on the front seats.  As the driver, you will enjoy the 12-way power adjustable, with a memory system to store your most preferred seating positions.  The front passenger seat has 8-way power adjustability.

Entertainment

Music is provided by a 14-speaker 550-watt Infinity® Logic 7® surround sound system.  It has SiriusXM satellite radio and a CD/MP3 player.  The system has Bluetooth for streaming audio, hands-free phone operation and HD Radio for high-quality digital radio service, controls attached to the steering wheel for maximizing a user-friendly experience, and an auxiliary jack for hooking up mobile devices and a USB port.  Furthermore, the Azera comes with a navigation system that comes with a generous three-month trial subscription to SiriusXM Travel Link® and an 8-inch touchscreen display.

Comfort And Convenience

Inside the new Azera, you enjoy a lot of features.  Blue Link is among its exceptional features.  This telematics system, developed by Hyundai, comes with a 1-year courtesy trial subscription that offers services like SOS emergency assistance, service appointment scheduling and automatic collision notification.

Also standard on the car are:

Safety Features

The Hyundai Azera has an elaborate nine-airbag system for collision protection.  It encompasses front impact airbags that face the driver and front passenger, side curtain airbags that are mounted on the front and rear seats, side curtain airbags that flank both rows and an airbag for the driver’s knee.  There’s a rear-view camera for monitoring the car when in reverse.  Also, the Vehicle Stability Management system includes traction control for maintaining command of the car in times of bad weather or unfavorable driving conditions and electronic vehicle stability.

Advanced standard safety features like rear cross-traffic alert, blind spot detection, and lane change assist systems increases your alertness on the road.  If you make an upgrade to the limited edition, Hyundai adds forward collision warning and lane departure warning as part of the package.

Competition

The Hyundai Azera’s key competition includes the Chrysler 300 and the Chevrolet Impala.  These vehicles offer user-friendly infotainment features, luxurious cabins, and a good balance of ride handling and comfort.  Other notable rivals include the Toyota Avalon, the Buick LaCrosse, and the Nissan Maxima.  The Hyndai Azera is he better buy because of its low MSRP, expansive tech features and safety ratings.

Pros And Cons

The major selling point of the new Hyundai Azera lies in its generous list of tech features and its safety rating. When it comes to safety, the Azera has exceptional ratings in the crashworthiness tests given and monitored by the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS).

MSRP Size And Classification

The Hyundai Azera is categorized as a regular mid-size car. It is an entry-level luxury sedan.  The Genesis and the Sonata are bigger than the Azera. The starting MSRP for the Azera is $34,100, with the Limited trim starting at $39,300.
